San Diego - Days 3 & 4

Day 3 of our San Diego Trip -  the Zoo

By this point Jackson had pretty much figured out when Mommy gets the camera out,
it's time to strut his stuff.

And also how to resist a picture

We saw Panda Bears, Giraffes, Elephants, Zebras and my favorite, the Koala Bears!

We also explored our inner polar bear by playing in his cave and hunting seals

Of course we rode the skytower, and loved watching the Chinese acrobats!

After we were all 'zooed' out, we headed down to Seaport Village in downtown San Diego.
We ate the best deep dish pizza ever, and enjoyed playing on the grass
with the sun setting over the ocean behind us.

Breathtaking!

I also loved the Plumeria blossoms. They smelled divine!

Day 4
Basically a repeat of Day 3, we visited the new Zoo Safari park, an extension of the zoo.

But first we visited the Mormon Battalion Memorial Site.
The Mormon Battalion was a group of Pioneers from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
who were asked by the U.S. Government to serve in the U.S. Army.
Their story is incredible, and so was the museum.
If you are ever in San Diego, this is a must visit site!

Next Stop: San Diego Zoo Safari Park!
An extension of the zoo, the safari park was an incredible experience.
Rather than cages, the animals are placed in environments that are
similar in size to their natural habitats.

But first things first - we rode a Lion.

Then we rode a Rhino!

And on our African Safari, we came up close and personal with these giraffes!

It was a very unique experience.
The bottom left picture is of the 'African Savana'
They had Zebra, Rhino, Buffalo, and other creatures all living together in this environment.

And check this out...this is a video of a Cheetah running at FULL SPEED!

And once again, we finished off our day with a beautiful beach sunset at Del Mar.
I could get used to that being a daily tradition!!

I absolutely loved how the sunset was reflected on the crystal clear sand

Only 1 day left of our fantastic trip!
